Aside from intergrating efolios into "traditional" schools, there are many other ways to integrate efolios into learning environments.

For example, efolios are a natural and powerful tool for distance learning. After setting up curriculum for a class of geographically distant students, instructors and students can view all work done by the studnet in one location. The students does not need to know any programming languages (such as HTML) or does not require any special software to post and review their work. One of the most powerful and unique strengths is that really take sthe student out of the potential vacum that exists in distance leadning by allowing students to view each others work and progress- something that they see in a practical classroom but do not always have the opportunity to do while online.

Another use of efolios that is similar to distance learning is in Home Learning. Along with the strengths previously mentioned, efilios provide home educators with tools to place the student into a community of learners by placing their work in an environment that can then be shared and reviews by other home educators. This also will expand the pool of subject matter experts from the local to the global.

Efolios are not limited to schools and the classroom- they are extremley powerful tools as corporate training tools. Large national and multi-national companies are in the continual process of providing training and just-in-time learning. It is cost prohibitive to provide for transportation and lodging for a employees to attend a short and intense training session. Retention these sessionsis often limited because of this intensity of the ratio of content to time. Efolios, in conjunction with other online tools (CMS, wikipedia, etc) allow the student to learn at a more natural pace (albeit a bit more rapid than standard classes), and enable them as well as the instructor to full time access to past assignments for review and assessment.
